Long time no update. I've been meaning to update but I don't have anything interesting to say other than places I've been to and people I've been seeing.
Well, okay I'll tell you about one place I went to! I went fishing for the first time last weekend!! Johnny's family invited me for fishing and we went to near Mission to fish in a fresh water river/lake. It was so absolutely peaceful and relaxing. I think I picked up fishing pretty fast. I even sliced a worm in half and picked it up with my hands (which were covered w/ gloves) and slit a hook down its body. All the while, the worm was squirming. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever done (that does show that I haven't done much, eh?) There were a few times were I accidentally poke my finger with the hook and one time where the worm and hook got caught in my shoe. Johnny and I were saying how nice it would be to get a small boat to go fishing some day.

I'm having difficulty speaking with my coworkers at work. I just never really feel quite comfortable there. I usually ending up stuttering my words or saying the wrong thing (similar to what Chandler said to the girl that him and Monica were going to adopt the babies from) "So what do you think hurts more...giving birth or getting kicked in the balls? I guess no one person will ever find out."
Okay, maybe it's not exactly like that but I do end up saying stupid things...and it's not funny stupid things either. I think I might be too cautious about what I say. Then again, it's probably because I am not comfortable there. And they're not exactly the most friendliest people. A bit catty, even. Like West Side catty.
But it's not like everyone has to get along with their coworkers. That's so easy to say. But bad coworkers can make your job a living hell.
In the end, I still think group chemistry is what makes a company a good company. I know it's a common worry amonst people my age to wonder if there is anything wrong with them. Most likely, there isn't. "There will always be jerks", as Natalie puts it.
"You jerk, you jerk, you are such a jerk...there are words, there are words..but they just don't work..." Anyone remember this song? It's a 90s song :P
I don't know if the above blurb is even right. Is there an 'e'?
The past weekend has been quite exciting. Quite exciting = losing sleep. I'll write about my weekend since my weekends aren't ever really like this weekend. Yea.
Friday was the opening day for the Richmond Night Market and Johnny and I quickly rushed over for what other than the food (!) Mmm. Steer away from those suicide fish balls. We drank half a bottle of water after eating those. But that non-asian egg ball making dude always amuses me. This year, the richmond night market is located across the Night Street bridge on Vulcan Way.
Saturday I had work and as always, work is quite mundane and I transform into a quiet and tongue-tied girl. Work isn't the most comfortable place but I have high hopes that will change once the camp actually starts. After work, I met up with some of my ITServices coworkers to watch Game 6 at Frog n' Firkins. After that, we (or rather Sean) speeded scarily over to Dave's (another ITServices co-worker) for his house party. I'm no beer drinker but he had some honey lager that tasted pretty good for beer. For some reason, everything is funny when you're under the influence. Either the people there were really absolutely friendly or they were just buzzed. Dave invited quite a bit of people. I only knew about say...5-7 people at the party out of the 50 something people there. This girl started talking to me and I asked her if she knew Dave. She told me she was the cousin of a friend of a friend who knew Dave. Ah. Yes, it was those kinda parties.
I had to leave early (well relative early at midnight) since I had to wake up at 6ish for the Child Run the next morning. The Child Run is a 5k run/walk organized by the Children's Hospital Foundation to raise money for cancer. I'm the competitive type so I ran the whole 5k and I am paying for it right now. I am as sore as hell. 5k + 3 years of poor excuse for no exercise equals a very, very sore Viv. I was sore everywhere. After the horrendous exercise, Debbie (my prof and also the person who runs the ophthalmology lab at CH) treated us all to brunch at The Locus. The food was amazing! Now I remember why I exercise.
Took a nap in the afternoon and awoke to Lisa telling me that we were seeing Harry Potter that night. I thought the movie was really nicely done. I hear it's more enjoyable for people who have not read the book. After the movie, 2 of us girls and 5 of 'em guys (whoa, what ratio eh) headed over to Shu Sui Ya for late night sushi. I experienced boys gossiping for the first time and many wise-cracks about Benson.
I had a great weekend. Did I just talk about what I did and what I ate? Oh quel horreur!
