Home Sweet Home

We get the keys to the new house tomorrow. As excited as I am, I know I’m going to miss my house soooooo much. In fact, I already miss it. I have never lived in a place for as long as I have lived here. I’ve moved around a lot when I was little, though it never felt like it. But this. I know there is no way I will ever forget about this house. I’ve lived in this little yellow house for the past 10 years.

One of my earliest memories in this house was when it was up for sale. The owner had cats, 3 to be exact. They were real cute, but I wasn’t very fond of cats. As I was going to the basement, this cat leaped across from (now my) room across the stairs and it scared the shit out of me. Ten years later, it still scares the shit out of me.

Interesting enough, I really love my bathroom. Lil probably knows why. Haha, I’m just kidding :P I remember a time when we just moved in a few days ago and it still hasn’t felt like home. I went to the bathroom and hung my SFA uniform behind the door. I was in the 5th grade and this will be the last year I will attend that dreadful private school. I sat on the counter with my legs crossed, and the soothing yellow walls with its warm glowing lights comforted me. Even to this day, whenever I feel down, I just sit on the counter and I would feel all better.

Then one time, at my house…Cat and her sis came to visit my (then) new house and we had a lot of fun. We watched T.V., munched on gummy bears and jumped out my window. Again and again. Perhaps 20 times in a row. What can I say, we were easily amused as kids. Or perhaps still are! (I guess I should clarify that this window doesn’t lead to outside, but instead, it’s like a little passage to the living room).

Then one time, at my house…it was the 6th grade and I had my first ever birthday party with my friends! I invited my new friends from Douglas elementary (Corina, Mandy, Elaine, etc..), friends from Chinese school whom I have known since 6 and Cat and her sis. We ate pizza, chatted and rolled my hamster down my backyard. Fluffy was a trooper. Looking back, that hill was pretty steep. But it was soo much fun!

In elementary school, Corina, me and my other friend, Cynthia walked home together everyday since we lived in the same direction. One day, these annoying boys (Wing, Andrew, B.D., etc) followed us home and we didn’t want them to know where we lived. They were such dorks. We knew they were interested. :P When HS came around, Mel and I walked home together. We would sing NSYNC and backstreet boys songs and as we parted when we reached my house, we would shout, "BYE!"...continuously as she walked farther and farther away. And she would say, "Okay this is the last time! BYE!" and I would always shout back "BYE!" And that tradition remained for years :P

Then one time, at my house…it was snowing 5cm of snow and school got cancelled! So my neighbour and I whipped out some garbage bags and went sliding down my backyard and it was soo much fun!

And then one time, at my house…it was the 11th grade and I had my first guy/girl party for my birthday! I don’t remember too much about it except for the fact that Al clogged the toilet and Vic stepped in his pee.

And then one time, at my house...while my parents went to HK during December and I still had school so I couldn't go, Johnny and I bought some raw food from Safeway and we had our own Hot Pot!! We had lots of seafoods ;D And it was soooo yummy.

And then one time, at my house…Michelle and I camped outside! (in the living room) And she told me her favourite part about our exciting camp out was sleeping.

The previous owner of the house LOVED flowers and gardening so we were blessed with beautiful flowers annually. In early spring, we have these beautiful pink flowers that bloom by our front door. In late spring, we have daffodils and these other unique looking flowers in the front. In mid summer, we have rose bushes in the front and back. We also have blueberries in the backyard! And I believe we had a Japanese plant once…but I’m sure we destroyed it somehow. Anyway, we had the best flowers on the block.

The view. Oh how can I describe the view other than breathtaking? Since Fraserview is quite slope-y, instead of seeing another house in the backyard, we see 180o of city life with its bridges, buildings and nature from the trees to the Fraser River. At night, it twinkles in magnificence. As I fall asleep, I can hear the train as it passes by.

My house is an original. It was built some 50 years ago and it is amongst the first houses built in the Fraserview neighborhood. (as well as one of the only few that still remains today!) A Canadian veteran lived here once. (Perhaps he was the one with those cats.) It has a real timeless feel to it. I love our kitchen as it has a feel between the 50s and a little wooden cottage. Perhaps the new owner will live in our house. But most likely not. They will most likely tear my little house down and build a new one and sell it for a million. And when that day comes, I will cry as they would have taken away a piece of me.

But until then, I will come by to visit it every so often. And think about all the great memories I have had there. I will sit at the big triangular grassy field across from my house, with my legs crossed, and imagine myself sitting on my bathroom counter. And the world will be a good place again.

Some pictures I have taken throughout the years. Wish I had taken more....

I'm Free!!!

Well not quite. I still have a lab report due Wed but other than that...I'm free!!!

So today I went to the mall for the first time in ages and I learned lots of new stuffs.
1) Malls are scary places in December (I guess maybe that's old news...)
2) A lot of stores don't accept VISA. (i.e. Wendy's and Superstore)
3) Shopping isn't easy and you may find yourself wandering the mall for hours and coming home with nothing.
4) Do you know they sell nipple clips in Mimosa??? They even have a picture of a model's nipple with the ring attached. I picked one up curiously and the sales woman immediately asked if I wanted to try it on. Okay, okay, she didn't ask me. But she looked at me curiously (perhaps I would be the first nipple ring sale or something)

Lately, I have been obsessed w/ deals, online shopping, and laptops. And I have my coworkers to thank. It's nice to find people that finally understands my obsession with deals and online shopping!! And they actually feed my obsession! Those blasted people whom I love lots. Eunice intro'd me to RFD (redflagdeals.com) and I have been relgiously visiting it every online second (almost). Sean is gonna text me if he spots any awesome deals on laptops (he says he saw a Dell 700m go for $999!!! They're usually about $1700.) Finally there are people in the world that understand my (sick, sick) "dealing" hobbies/needs. I say half the fun of buying things is the searching.

Afterwards, Lisa T and I bussed home and I almost missed my stop because she's that distracting.

Whilst I was making christmas decorations with Michelle today, I sprayed glitter glue in my face, in my hair, in my clothes. Glitter is hard to get off, let alone glitter GLUE! I had a glitter mustache for awhile. And that's all I really want to post about.

Luk with your finals everyone!
